Gateway Community College Foundation

Established in 1993, the Gateway Community College Foundation, an independent 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, was created to support the College's mission and institutional goals through philanthropic support. Gifts to the Foundation, which are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law, help ensure Gateway Community College has the resources to remain a leading institution of higher education.

The Gateway Community College Foundation is a vital thread in the fabric of our college community, providing a lifeline to students who are challenged by their financial limitations. The encouragement begins with scholarships and funds for student support initiatives, professional development opportunities for faculty and staff and programmatic needs for the college. With the help of a dedicated Board of Directors, loyal alumni, donors, friends, and volunteers, the Foundation helps to build a network of community support and promotes a better understanding of Gateway Community College as being a significant regional resource that provides academic and career advancement opportunities.

A Message from the Foundation Board Chair – Paul McCraven

July 2020

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the GCC Foundation Board of Directors, congratulations to the 720+ graduates of the Class of 2020. One student at a time, the work of the Gateway Foundation Board, is making a difference in our college, our community, in our region and in our state. I invite you to click on this link to view the 2020 Gateway Community College virtual graduation ceremony.

Today’s educational environment is all about the “three C’s”: challenge, change and commitment. Many of the challenges Gateway currently faces are related to economic realities in Connecticut. This is bringing about changes in how the College and the GCC Foundation are working, side by side, to address and support students, faculty and staff. What hasn’t changed, however, is Gateway’s commitment to its mission: To offer “high-quality instruction and comprehensive services” and “respond to the changing academic, occupational, technological and cultural needs of a diverse population.”

Like organizations and businesses everywhere, the college is being challenged to do more with less, while still maintaining the high academic standards that have always been its hallmark. I and my fellow members of the Foundation Board are determined to fulfill our own mission and support the Gateway college community as it addresses the challenges caused by the global pandemic.

Through your remarkable generosity, we are touching so many lives, and I humbly thank you for all you continue to do.

Paul A. McCraven, Board Char, Gateway Community College Foundation
